Parnassus

Staying at a small holding where they practice permaculture, a kind of sympathetic growing regime. Got our own shed (Yvonne says it's a cabin), with a wood burning stove to cook on and heat the water. This is so we can have a hot one in our outside shower cubicle, which is next to our outside compost toilet.
Isolated place in the hills. It takes 50 minutes to drive to the nearest town. It is called Kaikoura, where we went the next day to 'swim with the fishes' (meant dolphins). Indeed there were loads of them, a school, shoal, flock, many pod's. A small species called dusky dolphins. So, both wearing wetsuits, masks and flippers, frolicked amongst them.

Great fun for the first hour or so. Sea a bit choppy and both felt a little seasick. Were glad to get back on dry land.

Next day went for a hot bath in the springs at Hammer Springs. A good hours drive. Rained all the way, rained while we were in the open air pools.

Tomorrow off to Punakaiki Where we stay in a beach front place.

Leave you with some photos... Our cabin, the shower, some seals, about to meet some dolphins.
