Both decided to keep luggage to the minimum, and attempt the trip with hand luggage 7kg max. Still took too much, according to Mike, could have taken more according to Yvonne. All in all it made things much easier. It is still surprising just how much you can get in a cabin luggage sized rucksack:-
Mike took:
A 20 litre deuter rucksack containing, swimming trunks, two pairs of long trousers (one of which converts to shorts), one pair of shorts, two short sleeve t-shirts, two long sleeve t-shirts, one warm top, two pairs of socks, three pairs of underpants, double cotton sleeping bag liner, pac-safe (hardened steel net that can contain both Mike's and Yvonne's rucksacks), medication (including 100 ml bottles of sun cream, after sun, tiger balm and assorted pills), wash bag (soap, flannel, shower gel, toothpaste and brushes, shaving kit, biological soap for washing undies etc), bag containing washing line, plug for wash bowl, metal hand mirror and a length of cord, gorilla tape. Collapsible umbrella. Large micro pile towel. Bag containing adaptors, USB leads, chargers and other leads. Small mp3 player with 16 gigabytes of music. One toilet roll (Andrex, super soft). Some of the clothes were being worn!! Pair of 'keen' sandals.
Small zipped bags were used to hold and store different items, eg, medication in one, toiletries in another, and clothes in a larger one. Also took a sealable bag for dirty washing.
Also carried a smaller deuter rucksack (under seat luggage which you are allowed to take in addition to the overhead cabin baggage), which contained a net pad (nexus 7), kindle reader, munchy stuff, water, bits and bobs.
This also carried some of the stuff from the main sack when out and about round town.
Yvonne took the kitchen sink, and the whole content of our attic!!
Only kidding. Somehow females seem to pack in more tops, bottoms, scarves, shoes, handbags (just in case), than male's have the imagination for!! And still keep it under 7 kg....
Here is a picture of Yvonne fully loaded....
