Nha Trang

This is kind of like what you would expect Costa Del St Petersburg to be like, if it had a 6 km beach and lots of very tall hotels. Everywhere are signs in Russian, and indeed Russians.

Apparently there is a booming package tour, with cheap flights from Russia.

Lots and lots of beach clubs, with their section of the beach carved out for sun beds and umbrellas. If you buy a drink, and a snack you get the use of a couple of sun beds for the day. However, the beach is not the cleanest we have ever seen!!

The Russians are quite possibly insane. They stay in the very strong Vietnamese sun until they are literally bright red, possibly third degree burns. No sign of sun screen, high factor or otherwise, but what look like bottles of vegetable oil.
We saw one woman who's flesh had gone a horrible purple colour.
Having said that we have also seen a number of barmy Brits doing the same!!

The Russian male choice of swim wear was of course tight, skimpy, speedo trunks.... Shudder.

On the other hand the Vietnamese choice of beach wear consists of hat, face mask, quilted jacket, woollen gloves, full length trousers, socks and sandals. (The Vietnamese women value pale skin, and will go to almost any length to keep the sun off their skin).

We did have a day on the beach, mainly because the day before we went on a 10 km hike to see a famous Hindu temple called Po Nagar. Luckily it was built on top of a hill, so lots of lovely stairs to climb. Yippee exclaimed Mike!!

On the way back stopped for lunch between the two bridges, where there are many sea food restaurants. Lots of locals were using them. We both had a very nice meal.

Mike does have one good thing to say about the place, it has a micro brewery, and you get to sample 5 different beers and lager for some money (what else is money for?)
There was also a night market (what else is money for), so Yvonne happy.

Apart from that, we wouldn't stay for 3 days let alone 2 weeks.
So caught a bus to Dalat, 4 hours into the mountains, 1.5 km above sea level.

Leave you with some pictures. Yvonne relaxing on the beach; Mike relaxing on the beach; Po Nagar temple; Sampling some beer; Yvonne now second Dan with chopsticks; Beach fashions.
