Won't bore you with the flight experience. Left Birmingham at 1 pm ish, arrived Chocin, south west India, at 8 am. Of course this is local times, actual travel time about 14 hours.
Both traveling with hand luggage so whizzed through arrivals. Quite fortunate as we had planned to get the local bus to Fort Kochi, some 35 km. 5 mins to spare, otherwise a 3 plus hour wait for the next one. We were the only non-indians on it. Lots of money by taxi, loose change by bus. Then tuk tuk to 'Heavenly Home', our B&B for three days. Luckily the construction site next door was working at full volume, with a 7 am start.
Place is famous for its beachside fish restaurants, and Chinese fishing nets, art galleries and religious buildings.
Went to see a traditional Kathakali, means story/play. A sort of mime set to drums and singing.
Plot is:- demon terrorising village, deity kills demon. The end. This takes 2 hours to act out.
Mike was pleased to discover that the whole state is 'dry', not in the sence of descication, but alcohol. Not even the rubbing kind. This horrid situation lasts until after the state elections, in March.
Still, as Yvonne says, 'where there is a problem, there is a solution'.
Mike says ' I'll drink to that'.
Some pics. Heavenly Home, Builders we ordered, Yum yum, Our Deity hero.
